Mendip Road Cemetery Opening

The new Mendip Road Cemetery was officially on Saturday 13th December 2025 at 11 a.m. by Yatton Parish Council Chair Chris Jackson and Parish Clerk Aleana Baird. The ceremony was attended by fellow Parish and District Councillors, members of the Parish Council staff, North Somerset Council Chief Executive of North Somerset Council Mandy Bishop, residents and contractors and interested parties who helped with the project. 

Mendip Road Cemetery is for the interment of cremated remains only and is not consecrated. The Parish Council have agreed that people may have the choice of which place they would like to lay their loved one to rest whilst there are still a few remaining spaces in Yatton Burial Ground. The new cemetery is in a lovely peaceful setting with countryside views across fields to Crooks Peak and the Mendip Hills.
