Night-time closures at Wood Hill scheme next week

Subject: Night-time closures at Wood Hill scheme next week
There are three nights of closures that will be taking place next week in order for temporary surfacing to be carried out as part of the A370 Wood Hill junction works programme.
This means that:
- The A370 between Smallway and Rhodyate Hill, and Wrington Road where it joins the A370, will be closed at night to traffic from 8pm on Tuesday 10 September to 6am on Friday 13 September. A signed diversion will be in place, which will be available to view on https://one.network.
- The roads will reopen to traffic under three-way-traffic lights, between 6am and 8pm on the Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, until the temporary surfacing is completed.
- Once this surfacing is complete, the three-way temporary traffic lights will be removed, and narrow lanes opened along the A370 at this location and Wrington Road. This will allow traffic to flow more freely in both directions until the main period of A370 Wood Hill junction works has ended.
Why is temporary surfacing needed?
Until now, throughout the A370 Wood Hill junction scheme, traffic has been managed using three-way temporary traffic lights. This month, we plan to move from using the three-way temporary lights, to manage traffic through narrow lanes, allowing traffic to flow more freely.
To do that, we need to temporarily surface the road, to make it accessible to traffic under narrow lanes. This will also allow us to continue working onsite under narrow lanes until the main period of A370 Wood Hill junction works has ended.
Coming up
- Please note, from 16 September until 21 November, non-scheme related utility works will be carried out on the A370 at Station Road in Congresbury under temporary traffic lights. Please visit https://one.network for more information.
- A short period of night-time road closures is planned for later in the year on the A370 Wood Hill junction programme for traffic sensors to be installed, and the road to be resurfaced and lined. These closures will be carried out at night to keep disruption to a minimum, and more information shared closer to the time.
We are aware of the confusion the recent Bristol Live article has caused which mis-stated the nature of the closure, and we would be grateful if you could help to spread the word about the correct situation.

We recommend residents, commuters and visitors check before they travel, by visiting One Network (https://one.network/), or Google Maps (https://www.google.co.uk/maps) for the latest traffic updates.
