Work on the North Somerset Council part of Cadbury Hill week commencing 31st January 2022

Published: 25 January 2022

Management work on the North Somerset Council section of the hill with the aim of allowing the wild flowers and Orchids to re-establish.

Next week from Monday 31st January 2022 a tractor will be carrying out flail work from the car park up to the orchid slope pushing back the encroaching bramble and opening up the glades.  We will also be cutting the slope of the old tip site to remove some of the scrub and areas of thatching within the grass that is starting to appear.  We will then follow up with brush cutters to the areas the flail cannot reach.  Whilst the tractor is in, people are being asked to stay away from the area for their own and their dogs/horses safety.  It should be a max 3 days.  When the brush cutters are on site it will be open as normal.

In the summer work will commence rolling/bruising the bracken to try and limit its ability to grow so the flowers can start to regrow.
